Karel "⁠fredi⁠" Královec has joined the ranks of Yalla in lieu of Dejan "⁠Katalic⁠" Koprivica and will play in the upcoming ESL One Rio 2020 Asia Minor Middle East Closed Qualifier.

fredi, a regular of the Czech scene since 1.6, who briefly played with the old eXtatus core in 2018 and competed at the V4 Future Sports Festival in 2019 with E-RIVALS, will now try his luck with the North African-Middle Eastern lineup in Yalla, replacing Katalic on the roster.

Yalla will open their closed qualifier run against ATK on Wednesday

The upcoming ESL One Rio 2020 Asia Minor Middle East Closed Qualifier isn't fredi's first incursion into the Middle Eastern scene, as he finished in 3-4th place in the first open qualifier with the majority-Israeli lineup shinelikedemons, failing to make it to the closed qualifier with a loss to Finest in the last match of the bracket.

"I'm really excited to join Yalla, especially starting straight with the challenge of winning the Asia Minor Middle East Closed Qualifier, but I really believe that this team has the talent and motivation to do so," fredi told HLTV.org.

"We have been preparing for the past week and I think the chemistry is there, we just need time to set up all of our tactics. I also love that the organization keeps pushing us to be better and hopefully I will be able to adapt to the team's playstyle and achieve a lot of great things in my new home."

Yalla's first ESL One Rio 2020 Asia Minor Middle East Closed Qualifier match will be the upper bracket quarter-final, a best-of-three series against ATK on March 5 at 15:00 .
